Examples of texts and implications on future practice

One example of text that I chose to explore was Storybird. I felt that the simplicity of this resource allows children to easily create pieces such as stories, picture books and poems (all options available on the website as seen in picture below), which have the appearance of a published piece of work which can then help children to feel that their work is important. The wide range of art available to use for free on this website means that children would be able to put their own personal stamp on all their work. Due to the fact that this is available for free on an open website, this means that it would be possible to share children’s work with parents which I feel is important.

Various uses available on the website

I would personally use this within my own practice as I believe this resource is appropriate for all ages and would have a sense of appeal , which should then in turn help to engage children in the task. It is because of this that this would perhaps be a useful tool for assessment.
