Texts and implications for future practice

Examples of texts created

The first example of technology that I explored was the 'My Story' game on the Cbeebies website. This  allows pupils to create a story about themselves and their family, likes and dislikes etc; this not only builds childrens' IT skills, but also enables them to think about what identifies them and what their interests are.

Another site that I liked was 'Storybook Maker' which can be found on Seusville; this allows children to use Dr Seuss characters to create their own story; they can choose the scenes, music and characters, and type their own speech. When they have finished, they can watch the story played out as a mini film. I think this is a great starting point for creative writing.

  1. I had not had a chance to look at 'my story' on the bitesize website. I really like the idea and think it could have exciting cross curricular links. What age group do you think you'd use this for?

  2. I think I probably use this for Key Stage 1, as it enables children to talk about their interests and family but I think it is designed for younger age groups. It was really engaging to use - I have to admit I had fun with it!
